Are electronic devices on planes dangerous? Ask the flight attendants using them!

Click on this link to read a Washington Post story about a Southwest Airlines passenger who spotted a flight attendant texting while passengers were forbidden from using electronic devices.  The article explores the much-debated question of whether such devices present any real dangers and describes how the prohibition is causing increasing friction with passengers.  Do you believe the prohibition is unreasonable?

  1. I've actually always wondered about this. I've flown a lot of different planes and it's always been the same, turn of electronic devices, but never really understood why. I completely understand that people have these phones for instant access to the world but really, give it a rest for a couple hours, you don't need instant access every second of the day. I've never really been a person attached to there phone, I could go all day without looking at it, if not just checking the time. As it pertains to flying though, I would be worried if every person on the plane could be texting or surfing the internet on there cell phones...who knows how it could affect the plane or it's connection to the next airport. This was a really interesting article.
