Dangerous intersection or stupid drivers?

Click on this link to read a Sarasota Herald Tribune story (8-11-10) about an intersection (pictured) in Sarasota where people keep running into a clearly-marked wall.  If accidents continue to occur there, is this a sign that the intersection is poorly-designed, or must we write it off to idiocy of drivers on Florida roads?

  1. I think the problem here is both that FL's intersections, parking lots, and cities are overall poorly planned AND drivers in FL (for the most part) are idiots. I am not from FL originally and taking my drivers test here was the easiest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Obviously you do not need to know how to drive to get your license in this state. Something similar to this happened a lot in the town of Celebration FL where I once lived. Entering the small town from the back end near the high school, there was merely a sign saying welcome to celebration with a lake behind it (retention pond) and people would constantly end up in the lake. They put a light in the intersection, made a concrete flower bed and put up a bigger sign, I have not heard of any accidents since in that spot but people still run into the trees around that area! People are out of their minds and I feel that FL needs to have better city planners and a harder driving test. Period.
